Let’s be honest. More often than not any self-proclaimed ‘morning’ person is really only one between March and October. When mornings are light and the sun is shining bright, it’s a lot easier to embrace the day.
Throughout the rest of the cold, dark months the necessity to wake up and start the day becomes a gruelling unenviable task; but we must do it. For years I’ve been searching for the perfect morning ritual to aid this; to wake me up quickly and keep my face feeling fresh and ready. Finally, I think I’ve found it.
I’ve read about, and been recommended shower gels, creams and sprays created everywhere from the depths of the ocean to tops of mountains, and despite all of those weird and wonderful USP’s it’s probably one of the worlds most recognised brands who have come up trumps.
L’Oreal have really invested a lot of time in creating a range of products that actually work, and aren’t just a gimmick. Their Men Expert range covers all the ground you’d expect from a brand name as big, and for the angle they have gone at. These products that I’ve come across have a formula that work well individually and even better collectively. This is my routine that works:
1. Hydra Energetic Taurine Shower Gel.
The first thing I’ve always done minutes after my alarm goes off is crawl, bleary-eyed into the shower. But it’s just so damn warm, not always the easiest way to start the day. L’Oréal have come up with a shower gel perfect to overcome this – it does the whole kaboodle; hair, body and face – you don’t want to be messing around with different bottles at that time of the day. It awakens the senses and forces you to wake up whatever time it is.
2. Hydra Energetic Ice Cool Face Wash – Wake Up Effect.
Slap this on straight after the shower gel and you won’t regret it. The Cryo-tonic works perfectly with the Taurine in the shower gel to give your face a complete, fresh buzz.
Now you’re up. Now you need to look good, throughout the long day ahead.
3. Shave Revolution Non Foaming Gel – Ice Effect.
This surprised me the most out of these products. I’m not much of a shaver, but I do like to keep trim and in shape. This gel makes shaving in the morning quick and easy. It glides, it washes quickly, and adds to an already fresh smelling face.
4. Hydra Energetic Anti-Fatigue Moisturiser
Finally before you walk out that door, keep your face awake and looking great throughout the day with this. I’ve gone through a lot of moisturisers before; many have that greasy effect, or let the skin become dry – this one doesn’t. It keeps the skin hydrated throughout the whole day and evening with no greasy residue. It’s a real fresh moisturiser for every day.

Finish off with some Thermic Resist Deodorant – keeps you fresh all day no matter the conditions, no matter the pressure.
The great part of all these products collectively is the fragrances all work perfectly together. Each product adds its own element. You cannot fail to be awake after this speedy routine.
